GSA Sports Foundation was originally established in 2012 as My Compassion Connection to honor the memory of Craig Steven Forstrom, who passed away suddenly from a cancer-related illness on April 10, 2002, at the age of 37.
Craig was a loving husband to Robin Forstrom Cole and a devoted stepfather to Cameron and Clay Trolinger. Known for his vibrant personality, Craig had a special gift for lighting up any room he entered. He was deeply social, with an uncanny ability to make even perfect strangers feel seen, valued, and welcomed.
Above all, Craig was a passionate sports enthusiast. A standout basketball player in high school, his promising athletic career was cut short due to a serious ankle injury. Despite this setback, his love for sports never wavered and remained a defining part of his identity.
The GSA Sports Foundation will not only celebrate Craig’s legacy, but also inspire and support young athletes and individuals through the unifying power of sports.
